Teeter

Sonic and Tails teetering on Venus Lighthouse.

Teetering is an animation that is naturally activated by standing near a ledge in Super Smash Flash 2. The character will automatically teeter back and forth over the ledge, often with a panicked expression. Characters will teeter regardless of whether the ledge they are hanging over can be grabbed onto, though it occurs only on hard platforms. Characters will stop teetering if they crouch or shield, and any other action will reset the teetering.

Every character in the game is able to teeter, but only twelve of them use a separate animation when doing so. This will likely be changed with upcoming releases of the demo.

Characters who have a teetering animations[]

Below is a list of characters who have an unique teetering animation. Characters not included simply reuse their idling animation.

Trivia[]

Teeter (origin)

Sonic's and Tails's teeter in Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

  • Many teetering animations are based on the fighters' original game appearances. For example, Sonic's and Tails' teetering animation is a reference to how they teeter in classic Sonic games.
  • In Beta 1.2.0, Goku's teetering animation was different from his idling animation; his idle animation got changed, but his teeter animation stayed the same. This was an oversight, and got fixed in Beta 1.2.1.
