Target Smash, stylized as Target Smash!! and also called Break the Targets or Target Test, is a minigame present in most of the Super Smash Bros. games, which also appears in Super Smash Flash and Super Smash Flash 2. The goal of the game is to break a set of targets as quickly as possible. The game records the lowest time taken to destroy all the targets. If a player fails to smash all the targets, no time will be recorded.

Break the Targets

In the first Super Smash Flash is one of the two bonus level in both Classic and Adventure mode (the other being Race to the Finish) and is referred to as Target Test. It puts the player to break eight targets spread in the Kirby Hub Room. Each character has their own patterns for target, which sometimes requires the use of the characters' unique abilities to complete the Target Test. For example, Mega Man X has to use his beams at least once to break an unreachable target.

While in Classic mode there's a time limit, it can be played without it on the Stadium.

  • Mr. Game & Watch: Clear Target Test with every character but him, then defeat him in a battle.

In Super Smash Flash 2

In Super Smash Flash 2, the mode has been renamed "Target Smash!!" but is also occasionally called "Break the Targets" and plays fairly similarly to its previous iteration. The player now has to break ten targets and there are more stages to choose from. However, each stage has only a single target layout that does not take the player's character into account. There are four stages with different difficulty levels each that all characters can play on. As usual, Target Smash is the first of two bonus rounds that appear during Classic mode ("Race to the Finish" got replaced with a new bonus round called "Crystal Smash").

SSF2 Beta will incorporate in a future patch character-specific Target Smash stages similar to Super Smash Bros. and Super Smash Bros. Melee, with each character having their own level that requires them to exploit their abilities in order to complete it.
