It can be performed by holding down the up button when jumping in midair (or performing an up special move), making the character glide straight forward, it was possible to aim upwards and downwards, as well as cancel it by attacking in midair, making the character go helpless and fall. It should be note that once the glide is set, the player cannot turn around. [37]
Reflecting September 1 This technique is a quality many characters have in the special moves, the purpose of reflecting is to send back an incoming projectile back to the user. Recovering September 6 The technique for recovering refers to the act of trying to get back to some the stage's solid platforms after being launched from it. Most of recovery moves are the up special moves from the character's moveset, which usually launch them vertically. Gliding, floating and multiple jumps also have recovering qualities. [39]

Whenever he comes in contact with an opponent, he will chomp them, sending them flying with decent knockback. [133]
Renji January 12 "Coming from Bleach, this is Renji Abarai, the lieutenant of the 6th Division in the Gotei 13 under Captain Byakuya Kuchiki.

Once summoned, Renji will start chasing down opponents, delivering a quick, three-slash combo once he gets close enough.
After a short while of being on the battlefield, Renji will unleash his ultimate attack."

[134]
Genie January 14 "When summoned out of his lamp, the Genie will use his powers to send out a puff of magic at each opponent!

While the Genie’s effect is easy enough to grasp, he can still be a valuable asset in battle. You’ve never had a friend like him!"

[135]
Viewtiful Joe January 21 "[…] Once you summon him, he will not attack immediately, or focus on using one attack. He is free to run and jump around, and he even has his own mini-moveset!" [136]
Shells February 2 "The most basic shell is the Green Shell. When thrown or jumped on, it’ll slide across platforms and bounce off walls until it falls off the stage.

They [Red Shells] home in on any character in the area, but only stay on the platform they landed on.
This shell [Blue Shell] will fly away when thrown, coming back in a short amount of time into the lead player! If you’re in the lead yourself, try to grab it, as it won’t target the thrower."

[137]
Starfy February 7 "Once summoned, he slowly starts harmlessly walking around.

However, once he gets close enough to someone…
Starfy will start spinning multiple times, damaging anyone near him."

[138]
Ray Gun February 14 The Ray Gun is a simplistic item that can shoot 15 ray of light, which damages the opponents. Once it is out of ammo, the only thing that can be done is to throw it, like a container item. [139]
Proto Man February 21 "Proto Man, Mega Man’s older brother, appears as an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Flash 2!

Once he’s on the battlefield, he’ll start ramming opponents with his shield. And of course, Proto Man will also fire his Arm Cannon every now and then."

[140]
Light Yagami March 7 "Light Yagami appears in battle! He wields the Death Note, a powerful notebook that brings death to anyone whose name is written inside.

Misa will seek out any nearby opponents, and Light will write their names in the Death Note.
But don’t panic, if you can stay out of Misa’s sight, Light won’t be able to write your name."

[141]
Dojo Ending April 1 An update that originally stated that the Smash Flash DOJO!!! would no longer be updated; if someone scrolled down, though, they would see the Trigger Item's confirmation. It would take the appearance of another item where, when opponent, would either stun the opponent or send them flying.

After some time, the segment of the update that stated the DOJO!!! was going to end got removed.

[142]
[143]
Metroid July 6 "First, they’ll start to fly around, and when they Metroid see their prey…

It will attach to him or her, and start consuming his or her life energy. In Super Smash Flash 2 this will be represented by a rising damage percentage. Do remember that Metroids are dangerous, once they’ve got you in their sight, you better start running!"

[144]
Freezie August 24 An enemy in the Mario Bros. arcade games. The Freezie appeared in late levels to complicate the terrain. It would move along the platforms, then eventually cover one of them completely in ice, destroying itself in the process.

In SSF2, it appears as a throwing item that freezes opponents on contact, and slides along the ground if it is not picked.

[145]
Pitfall November 12 "First appearing in the Animal Crossing games, the pitfall was an item that you could use to pester the villages with. You could throw it, and unlucky souls who would cross it’s resting place, would become burried in the ground for a while. A very funny item at that. Here in Super Smash Flash 2 it does the exact same thing: Pick it up, throw it, and it will embed itself into the ground." [146]
Chatot November 27 "It’s Chatot, the music note Pokemon!

It uses its signature move as it flies by: Chatter!
Each of these sound waves are very powerful. Chatot will fly back and forth for a short while, continuously using this move."

[147]
Mushroom December 12 When a Super Mushroom appears, it starts sliding on the ground. When a character touches it, they become bigger and heavier. The update also shows the Poison Mushroom, that makes characters lighter and smaller. [148]

Dragon Ball: Power Scale January 5 "Goku trains quite a lot for his fights. Arguably, he works harder outside of his battles than during them. This song seems to be an embodiment of that training regime, ever getting stronger." [149]
Mega Man: Abandoned Memory January 28 "The music keeps you going throughout the rest of the stage [Dr. Wily's fortress]. It’s so full of energy! Just keep pushing on, there’s no turning back now." This update hints multiple songs per stage. [150]
Metroid: Vs. Ridley February 25 "The song itself is simply heavy metal, all the time. Intense, just like the battles that take place when the music goes on. It makes even more sense when you think about what Ridley becomes in the Metroid Prime games.

I wonder where this could show up in the game…"

[151]
Animal Crossing: DJ K.K. October 16 "Every Saturday night, after finishing your work, you go to the Roost to listen to this free-minded musician dog, to enjoy a good piece of music, and have some fun over coffee.

And now, once you open this game, you will be able to listen to him, completely free! As he has always wished to."

The future of the Battle Cards item April 14 "As a team, we have discussed this matter extensively. An conclusion was reached, and we all decided that in the end, the inclusion of this item won’t really add much to the game, considering its close similarity to another item, the Assist Trophy."
