Lakitu, known in Japan as Jugem (ジュゲム, Jugemu) are bespectacled Koopas who ride clouds through the skies. Although Lakitus have become a recognizable trait of the Mario series, they have suffered neglect in common appearances per game and seem especially rare in other forms of Mario-related media. Lakitus are the best known for tossing Spiny Eggs to Mario or Luigi below. However, they seem to be taking on less evil tasks in other games, such as refereeing races, umpiring tennis and baseball games, and even filming Mario's adventures.

In Super Smash Flash 2

The Lakitu that appears as an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Flash 2, in this game, Lakitu have a different function than in its Super Smash Bros. Brawl counterpart; rather than being offensive by throwing spiny eggs, this Lakitu takes a similar role to when he appeared in the Mario Kart series. He'll follow the player around and will use its fishing pole to rescue the player if they fall off the stage. If this does not happen within a set time period, Lakitu will disappear.
