Kirby is ranked 16th on the tier list, solidly in the middle. Kirby has one of the best recoveries in game, with 5 midair jumps and a solid air speed. Kirby becomes intangible when switching places with Meta Knight. He has decent instant kill options, including his up attack, down attack, and down air.
Despite this, Kirby lacks range and projectiles, giving him difficulties fighting opponents who specialize in long range combat. Kirby is also overall obsoleted by Meta Knight, as Meta Knight has better mobility, better kill moves, more range, and a momentum cancel move.
Kirby switches places with Meta Knight. This move can be used to evade attacks as Kirby and Meta Knight become intangible when they are swapping until one of them actually reaches the floor. It is possible to cancel the switch by performing a different move as Kirby or Meta Knight are moving out.
Kirby engulfes whole in a fireball and lunges forward with great speed damaging anyone that comes in contact with him. Holding the attack button makes Kirby to deliver an arched high kick. This attack offers momentum cancel, aiding in Kirby's survivability when launched out of the stage, it also aids in Kirby's horizontal recovery without him having waste any of his additional jumps.
Kirby rapidly kicks in the air with both feet in quick succession similarly to his continued up attack. For some reason, holding the attack button makes Kirby to enter on a flinch-like state in which he will be unable to perform any action aside jumping, also, this state deals no damage.
Kirby's rapid kick attack for his up and down aerial attacks resembles the Fury Stomp and the Pit Point Kick respectively from his Suplex ability from Kirby Super Star.
It should be noted that the frames used for that attack are actually the sprites of Kirby standing on a slope.
