Galoombas (クリボン) are small, round enemies hailing from the Mario series.

Character description[]

Galoombas are Goomba-like enemies that rarely appear in the Mario series. They are very similar to regular Goombas, in that both species are small, brown, limbless enemies that slowly walk across the ground. However, unlike Goombas, Galoombas are rounder and cannot be defeated simply by being jumped on; instead, jumping on a Galoomba will flip it over and immobilize it. In Super Mario World, immobilized Galoombas can then be picked up or kicked, though they cannot be defeated with another regular jump. However, in Super Mario 3D World, jumping on or kicking an immobilized Galoomba will defeat it. Galoombas may also appear with a pair of wings or a parachute, making them Flying Goombas and Para-Goombas, respectively.

For their first appearance in Super Mario World, Galoombas were known simply as Goombas. However, as both enemies appeared in Super Mario 3D World, they were given the name "Galoomba" to distinguish them from Goombas.

A Galoomba appears in the McLeodGaming cartoon A Super Mario World, where it briefly appears in the first episode as one of the monsters that Mario fights with the Master Sword. It walks across the ground for a moment before Mario stabs it, killing it quickly. Its winged variant, Flying Goomba, also plays a similar role.
