This article is about Shadow's appearance in Super Smash Flash. For the character in other contexts, see Shadow the Hedgehog.

Shadow is playable newcomer unlockable character in Super Smash Flash from the largely represented Sonic roster in the game. As with the case with is his other fellow Sonic characters, Shadow's sprites and attacks are derived from Sonic Battle.

Shadow is ranked 25th on the current tier list, placing him in the C tier.

Attributes[]

Shadow has decent KO power in his up attack and down aerial.

However, all of his attacks have poor to mediocre range, as well as high startup/ending lag and generally poor finishing ability. Shadow also lacks a reliable momentum canceling attack. Shadow's meager strengths and blatant flaws result in poor matchups across the board, resulting in his low ranking.

Attack Image Description Damage
Neutral attack SSF Shadow standard attack Uses Shadow Guard, creating a growing field of chaos energy that directly damages opponents. 3%
Side attack SSF Shadow side attack Uses Chaos Upper, where he swings his arm and conjures a ball of chaos energy from his fist. 3%
Down attack SSF Shadow down attack Uses Chaos Magic, closing his eyes and snapping his fingers, which creates a small explosion of chaos energy. 5%
Up attack SSF Shadow up attack Uses Shadow Kick, throwing out a high kick. 4%
Down aerial SSF Shadow down aerial Uses Chaos Magic midair. The attack behaves differently from his down attack, however. For instance, the ensuing explosion of chaos energy is not visible (only the initial orange spark is). Also, an invisible projectile gets fired straight down, with a considerable long range. This is the only projectile Shadow possesses and the fact that it is invisible makes it unique among other projectiles in the game.

Trivia[]

  • Shadow is the only Sonic character to have voice samples. However, he does not use samples coming from his game series; instead, he recycles some samples from Fox in Super Smash Bros. Melee. A similar case happens with Crono.
    • He does, however, only vocalize when jumping or using his up attack.
