This article is about Fox's appearance in Super Smash Flash. For the character in other contexts, see Fox McCloud.

Fox is a playable veteran Starter character in Super Smash Flash and the sole representative of the Star Fox franchise. Most of his attacks are based on his special moves from the Super Smash Bros. games, unlike most of the other characters who use punches and kicks. His custom sprite set was made by user qwerty1080, in a particular Mega Man 8-like style.

Fox is ranked 1st on the current tier list, placing him at the top of S tier.

Attributes[]

All of Fox's attacks are quick and useful in specific ways. His neutral attack is a long-ranged projectile with a large hitbox, and can easily send people off-stage. His side attack, Fox Illusion, can combo into multiple other attacks, such as his instant-KO attacks, allowing Fox to KO opponents at extremely low percentages, as well as into itself, allowing Fox to rack up damage extremely quickly. His up attack can chain into itself until extremely high percentages, and his down attack can instant-KO while not being a roll attack, allowing him to down augment his neutral and side attacks and turn them into instant-KO moves as well.

Fox has positive matchups against almost every other character in the game.

Moveset[]

Attack Image Description Damage
Neutral attack SSF Fox standard attack Fires a single laser shot from his Blaster. The beam travels and comes out quickly, and deals moderate damage overall. Unlike latest iterations of Super Smash Bros., the attack does cause knockback. 1%
Side attack SSF Fox side attack Moves forward at a really high speed with Fox Illusion, causing a blue afterimage of himself to appear in its path and damaging anyone that comes in contact with him. It is one of the few moves in the game to aid with recovery, giving Fox a slight edge at surviving over most characters. This attack also possesses a lot of range behind Fox, to the point where only Samus can out-range it. 4%
Down attack SSF Fox down attack Uses his Reflector to cover himself in a blue short-ranged energy field, surrounding him completely. Unlike the Reflector in the official titles, this move does not have the ability to reflect projectiles and cannot be held indefinitely either, only dealing damage. 5%
Up attack SSF Fox up attack Performs a neutral kick that sends opponents upwards. It is his only attack that is not based on a special move from the Super Smash Bros. series. 5%
Down aerial SSF Fox down aerial Attacks with Fire Fox, engulfing himself in fire as he plummets to the ground at great speed. Its direction is always the same and cannot be angled, unlike in the official titles. Since it can be interrupted with a jump, it can give Fox greater control of his movement.

Trivia[]

  • Oddly, his Blaster does not do any damage to Master Hand.
  • A common citation in the community is that Fox's face resembles Miles "Tails" Prower's face from the SEGA Genesis era, thereby joining about the joke concerning the abundance of Sonic characters in the game.
    • This is because his head was actually an edited version of Tails' head.
