Peach Parasol (ピーチパラソル) is Peach's up special move in Super Smash Flash 2.
Overview[]
When performed, Peach pulls out her parasol and thrusts it upwards at a slight angle forward, lifting herself up as she does. Opponents in the parasol's way could be dealt up to six hits of 1% damage each. She then opens her parasol and holds it over her, slowing her decent. The parasol is also able to hit opponents that make contact with it in the air while falling slowly, dealing 3% damage each hit. Peach can also close her parasol with the down input, which can also deal multiple hits of 2% damage each to opponents that make contact with it as she lowers it. However, this will also grant a helpless state to Peach, though she can rise the parasol again with the up input.
Because the move slows Peach's decent does not grant her a helpless state without the player's input, it provides good horizontal and decent vertical recovery overall. However, Peach cannot grab ledges if she is facing the other side.
Origin[]
The move could be based on Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, where, to leave her room without alerting the castle guards, Peach parachutes from her second story room using her parasol. That parasol can later be used as a weapon. Peach has otherwise been pictured with a parasol since Super Mario Sunshine, where she used her parasol as a parachute in the ending cutscene. She also used a parasol in Yoshi's Island DS, Super Princess Peach and Super Paper Mario. Peach's parasol in Super Smash Bros. Brawl onward is an exact replica of its appearance in Super Paper Mario, with its heart-shaped handle. This design was also used in Yoshi's Island DS (though the handle was not seen).
