Beat Call (ビートコール) is Mega Man's up special move in Super Smash Flash 2. Mega Man pulls Beat, a robotic bird, out of his pocket, giving him about three seconds worth of flight. This move can also be used in conjunction with uncharged Mega Buster shots, and the move can be canceled with any aerial attack. Upon receiving damage or canceling the move with an aerial attack, Beat will fly away, leaving Mega Man unable to perform the move again, though he will not become helpless. This move also depletes Mega Man´s second jump, regardless whether he used it before or not. However, if he cancels the move before being hit he will be able to use Beat again. This move grants Mega Man heavy armor in the initial frames of the move. As of Beta, if Mega Man gets hit when using this move, he can use the move again.

Origin

After the player rescues Beat in a hidden area in Slash Man's stage using the weapon Scorch Wheel, Beat will appear whenever Mega Man falls into a pit and pull him for a while, but only if he previously had an item known as "Beat's Whistle". The player then must move to a safe area before Beat releases Mega Man, as he cannot hold his weight for much time. Beat did the same thing in Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10, though the item required to use him was renamed "Beat Call".
