Arcade (ゲームセンター) is Donkey Kong's Final Smash in Super Smash Flash 2.

Overview

When performed, Donkey Kong leaps into the air and lands on a steel girder that appears in the background. The player will then be able to control a targeting column and press the attack button to throw barrels towards the column. The barrels deal 15% damage to opponents with each hit and roll across the stage after landing.

Origin

Arcade origin

Donkey Kong rolling a barrel in Donkey Kong.

Arcade is based on the first level of the original Donkey Kong arcade game. In this game, the player controlled Mario, formerly Jumpman, and was tasked to climb to the top of the construction site, where Donkey Kong was holding Pauline captive. Over the course of this level, Donkey Kong would roll barrels along the steel grinders that Mario would have to jump over, as touching one would cost a life. These barrels would continue to roll down each level until finally reaching an oil drum to become Trouble Bugs. Donkey Kong could also drop barrels directly down from where he was standing, which would then immediately drop each level without rolling. The barrels' only weakness was a hammer, which Mario could pick up to destroy barrels with.

The steel grinder Donkey Kong stands is taken from this game, as is the song when the game starts that also plays when Donkey Kong executes the Final Smash. Much like in Donkey Kong, the barrels in SSF2 are very powerful and continue to roll until they can no longer. However, the column Donkey Kong throws the barrels down has no true origin; in fact, the concept of throwing barrels as opposed to rolling or dropping them wouldn't actually be seen until Donkey Kong Country.
