Air Dodge

Air dodging is a defensive action in Super Smash Flash 2 that grants the player intangibility in midair momentarily. It is performed by pressing the shield button while in the air and is primarily used to dodge attacks. However, there is also a period before and after the intangibility frames in which the player is vulnerable to attacks.

While air dodging, the player cannot perform any actions other than fast falling. It also cannot be performed out of hitstun nor while tumbling, which makes air dodging a little more situational.

Trivia[]

  • The way air dodging works in SSF2, which is similar to that of Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, has generated debate in the community.
    • People against it advocate for directional air dodging (much like Super Smash Bros. Melee) in order to grant the player more movement options (such as wavedashing and wavelanding) and thus "speeding up" the gameplay.
    • Defenders of the mechanic state that the current air dodge makes the game unique and different from the aforementioned games while being riskier and less abusable than the air dodges in Brawl.
