Adventure Mode: The Flash Of Shadows was the planned downloadable "story mode" extension for the EXE version of Super Smash Flash 2. The story had been developed by some SSF2 Devs known internally as The Flash Of Shadows Writers, led by Suliboy. The story was planned to be about the group of heroes' struggle to defeat a "Shadowy Man" along with his minions known as the "CuBots". Much like in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, players would have unlocked secret characters by allowing them to join your party. Due to changes in the staff in late 2010, following the release of v0.6, the current story was deemed absurd and obsolete, being scrapped altogether. As of the release of the Beta version on May 29, 2017, the current developer staff has yet to make another announcement about the fate of a story mode in SSF2.
